I've just installed the free Stanstead.  Brilliant but the white runway markings vanish ahead of me as I take off.   Can this be fixed please?

Thanks,
Terry Wallis.

Sounds as though you have another AFD file active for Stansted. Do a search for files that have egss in the name. If not in the Xtreme scenery then either delete them or make them inactive.

My problem is that the runway vanishes ahead of the plane after touchdown.
Taking of is fine,
No other AFDs, other than default.
FSX SP1, SP2. Windows XP

Import the AFD (Stansted Free) into AFX and AFX reports irregularities.

Hello Norman.   I had one (egss4vfh.blg 21KB) but I put it in a folder out of the way.
The white markings stay at 490 ft & above & start to go around the same height when landing. just like a carpet being pulled away as I get to it.   That just leaves the default
bgl file for Stanstead & I've no idea where that is!!    Undecided

If you read the readme, Brian, it says that there are points that programs, such as AFX will pick up as errors, but these are intentional. In any case AFX is not too reliable itself.

You haven't said if you are using FSX or FS9. If FS9, make sure that you do not have the part 4 Stansted files present, nor the file af2_egss in the af2_high\scenery folder. AI systems also have AFD files and cause problems

Anyway, here are some screenshots.

The first two are Stansted free in FSX and the second two Stansted free in FS9.

Take offs are optional. Landings are mandatory.

Yes, Gareth, there is. That is because the PAPI that you see are the default, but they should be where the ghost lamp is because the threshold has been moved.

Terry and Brian, are you seeing what s shown here?

I'll reduce a snap of my problem & then let you see it but bleed through isn't it.  My white marking just vanish as I go up the runway but stop vanishing at about 500 ft.    It doesn't happen at Edinburgh or Gatwick.

I've no part 4 Stansted just the free edition & no afcad except the default.

Snap as promised.  The black mark is my fault by the way.

Chose the default 737, sit on the runway (slew OFF) and report the height you get (use shift+Z).

We need to establish if your stansted is using the designed height or being effected by something else.

We seem to have 2 threads here.

355.7 ft in the default 737.400 at Stansted.
I don't have UK2000 Culdrose!

Not two threads Terry, what I was asking was whether your problem looked like the one at Culdrose. On seeing your screen shot it obviously isn't.

I assume that we are talking FS9 here. If so the default height for Stansted is 348ft and that for the Free airport 347.8ft. This slight difference is because the heights were actually done in metric, and some rounding occurs. However, I don't think that it would cause the texture break through, and it does not equate in any case to the height that you have quoted. (I take it that your default height was taken in the cockpit and you made no allowance for that height above ground level). If you really have a height difference of 18.3ft then that would be the cause of the break through.

Below is the properties screen for the free Stansted.
