At night, Glasgow doesn't light up. And on approach my frames drop to 5/6ps. Unflyable.
This contrasts with Edinburgh & Gatwick, both of which look gorgeous at night, and I can expect 20 - 30 fps.
The papi lights also seem oversized (by a factor of 5 or so!)
Sounds like I need a reinstall, but just in case, I thought I'd post and see if anyone has had a similar issue.

What version are you using, I suspect very much you are using the SP1 version in FSX SP2. Doing so will mean black at night and progressively slower fps. Please remove and install the correct SP2 version

I'm not sure which version.
I bought the boxed version at the Sherburn flight sim show. The box is silent as to version.
I suspect you are right, though - I've just reinstalled and I get options for FS9 or FSX, but no option to choose SP2 (I'm running Accel).
And the problem is still there
What to do? Did I get an old boxed copy?
Thanks for your help.

Paul depending on when you purchased the boxed version you may well have an older version. I personally don't like using SP2 purely because of the complete incompatability with FS9 coded software, such as your Glasgow. So download the latest update from here and install it. One thing I am not sure about though is if you will need to activate the scenery, but Gary will be able to give you a deffinitave answer. Kind Regards Gareth

The version and sim is certanily not silent on the CD. First off when you insert the CD, it says:
FS9 setup FSX RTM and SP1 version setup FSX SP2 and Acceleration version setup
When the setup runs it confirms the same thing and the Version number, on the first splash screen, after installation the installed read me file also says the same thing.
The version at the show is this version.

I'll download the other version, thanks for the link Gareth.
But I am attaching a screenshot of the install dialog box, showing what I in fact see when I insert the CD.
Seems to me I got an old version at the show, no?

V.2 now downloaded and installed. Boxed serial worked ok though I imagine my activations have dropped off a bit today.
Quick test shows Glasgow as pretty and illuminated as elsewhere, so problem fixed.
Thanks again.

we are always more than happy to help! What ever time or day of the week!
By the looks of things you do have the old version. Now unfortunately Paul I can not say if downloading the update will be activated straight away but by all means it is a free download, but you may have the demo box on the runway though.
Only Gary will be able to fully help you on this matter of downloading an update to a CD version.
Sorry Paul :/
Kind Regards
Gareth

ahhh sorry Paul completely ignore the above post, u must have posted it as I was posting also! Glad that it did work! The activation system has changed slightly. You no longer have a limit of activations anymore. Instead Gary monitors your activations instead to see of any possible unusual activity with your activations. So Don't worry Paul, your activations will be fine!

I cant explain why you got an old copy, the source files have 3 versions. This is a mistake, if you return it I can replace the disk for free

Gareth, thanks again for your help.
Gary, thanks for the offer - I will save us both some postage and stick with what I have. I'm really happy with all 3 purchases, and I've got what I paid for, so no worries.
Paul
