Possible A380 Visit To BHX!

Evening,

Rumours are currently flying around that an Emirates A380 is due to visit Birmingham International on September 9th 2009.

Speculation over why this visit is taking place is varied, the 70th Birthday of BHX is around then, the opening of the new International Pier and Emirates Lounge is also around about then.

This has not been confirmed but come from numerous sources.


Other BHX news includes that Emirates have confirmed a 2nd daily B773 between BHX - DUB. This also raises the question, with Emirates having so many A380s on order, is it possible they could be looking at a daily A380 visit to BHX to replace the 2 daily B773s

The problem with an A380 visiting BHX is the status of the airfield, ie fire cover it is graded upto 747 only..would assume it would have to go up a category to fufill requirements to accept an A380??
