Demo file of VFR2 is now ready. http://www.uk2000scenery.net/files/vfr2_demo.zipIt includes 8 totally FREE airfields: Audley End Little Gransden Nottingham Old Warden RAF Shawbury Shipdham Wellesbourne Welshpool The website has also been updated here: http://www.uk2000scenery.com/vfrairfields/index.htmlRelease will be 2-3 weeks away. Like VFR1 I will be allowing pre-ordering from next Saturday and you can download the product from then. This is to allow the downloads to be spread , rather than big rush on release day which may overload my servers.

Is Horizon going to do a disk version again or is that a silly question seeing as they seem to have fallen of the face of the planet.

Thanks Gary I know where the site is or I should do I moderate one of the community forums sections for them. The thing is though Paul has been silent since the 26th of January this year and the team has been reduced to one as far as I am aware. Even the Horizon beta team has apparently been disbanded as our forum section over at Horizon has long since disappeared. This is why I asked if a disk version was still planned or not, I'd like to get the full set on disk eventually as I already have V1 on disk, fingers crossed then.

Oh I see now, well I cant say too much about his company, but I do hope Paul does take a more active rule in his forum, as it would certainly help to maintain customer confidence in the CD version. Of cause theres always the the download version and you copy to a CD

Appreciate the demo Gary. Anyone else have a texture missing at Welshpool? Ray EDIT...my mistake. I still had a 3rd party Welshpool installed but also the UK2000 installer failed to add the scenery.cfg entry.

Super work Gary and the team. I know this particular airfield intimately and am amazed at the accuracy and detail you have acheived. Rod.

Just to clarify my installation problem in the post above. The UK2000 install worked perfectly and added the scenery.cfg entry but used the scenery.cfg in the root folder of FSX, rather than the scenery.cfg in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX. This was down to user error, during selection of FSX directories and not the UK2000 installer. Must be the heat or perhaps my age Ray Had a chance to view the demo and very impressed with the high standard and if it was possible the standard/quality has improved again

There are some improvements to Vol2 compared to Vol1, but I do have to maintain a standard look accross the 3 volume range.
Here are some of the changes.
Base images touched up more than Vol1. We dont use the static 'group' of light aircraft, no one seams to like them. 4 more UK2000 static aircraft models made, GR9 harrier, AS350 (3 liveries), Grob 109 (2 liveries) and Vulcan bomber
I have probably remade more buildings in Vol2 compared to Vol1, mostly from the old 'part4' area.
Vol2 was compiled using a trick that now forces FSX SP2 to limit the visual range of each airport, this will improve FPS. If users can remember in Vol1 where you had many airfields in one small area (like Heathrow) it reduced the FPS a lot. This was because all of the airfields within 50miles were displayed due to the specific SP2 design flaw (tries to 'group' materials).
There are some compromises made and is not ideal, for example we still use the FSX default windsock, this is because I want to maintain 100% FSX code and the default windsock is the only windsock that works uses FSX code, trouble is its not the best looking thing.
