Oaksey Park airfield appears to be sitting in a "hollow". Is there any way to correct this?

Can you post a screen shot of what you mean, Chris, because Oaksey Park is in a dip.

Ah, so that "dip" is actually a real world feature of the airfield? It's just that when I approach the airfield from the direction opposite the end with the crashed plane, it feels odd to see a sharp slope down to the level of the runway. I will post a screenshot later on, but maybe that's how it is in the real world....

Yes. please post a screen shot, in case something is wrong, but your description of the approach sounds correct.

Your crash maybe connected to FSX Trees, did you install the V1.1 update?. To confirm remove the tree file for the airfield.
We were aware of the dip at the designed stage , but I thought it would make it a challenging airfield to leave it like this.

Gary,
When I said "crashed plane", I meant the one that you had included in the package!

Here is a screenshot of the Cessna 172 ready for take off, with the sloping terrain in the background.

On a side note, should the approach to runway 31 at Bodmin have this rather jagged looking terrain?

Cor, do you do all your flying at night Chris?
The shot of Oaksey park is as it is.
At Bodmin there is a very sharp drop off of the end of 31 and the lane actually slopes down it. This is a close as we could get:

Cor, do you do all your flying at night Chris? At the moment, all I am doing is take off/circuit/landing at each of the airfields and airports in the Cessna 172, Beechcraft Baron, and (shortly) the PMDG Jetstream 41. I make these flights at sunrise, because I love the ambience of the scenery at that time of the day, and also because I enjoy landing with the runway and approach lighting switched on! I will progress to flights between airfields eventually, but at the moment I am enjoying myself too much to worry about it

Well, Chris, as you know the only really intersting parts of any flight are the first and last three minutes.

Hi,
I recently stumbled across this thread and thought I'd add my three-penneth!
I used to fly out of Oaksey back in the 90s and although at the end of rwy 04 there is a small embankment (approx 5'), the entire airfield certainly isn't in a 'dip'. In fact the approach to rwy 22 is extremel flat, the only obstacle (other than boundary fence!) is the high-tension power cables a couple of hundred metres out.
I've also got another 'issue' that someone may be able to help me with. The end of rwy 35 (or beginning of 17) is black! I've attached a screenshot to illustrate, but I can't work out why half the runway isn't green?
Any advice greatly received.
Steve.

The runway is default FSX runway, we cant change that without changing all FSX runways around the world

Not quite,
Because the land slopes that way, and you have to have a flat airfield for MSFS it would have meant a very unrealistic look to the scenery if runway 17 were made level. One of the challenges at Oaksey is the approach to 04 and we dicided to retain that in the scenery as such. Raising the airfield to make runway 17 flat would have distorted the topography and removed the bank at the end of 04. So, runway 17 was limited to the short length that you see in the above shot and the black area is the extension of that runway in Gen X.
