Hi,

I have recently been told about the program called ultimate defrag made by disktrix. I installed the 14 (or 15) day trial software and followed the daily tutorials that got sent to me from disktrix. The software enabled me to put big files that are never used (like exe files for some sceneries that I have) to the inside of my hard drive, where the reading speed is slower. I could then move my OS and my flight sim installation, sceneries, planes, etc to the outside of my hard drive where the read speed is much quicker. The software has claims of being able to speed your hard drive read speed of some files by up to 400%, and I am probably one of the users who would notice this differnece more than most. You can also set the software to put directories next to the MFT file thing, and once you have placed the files where you want them, you can exclude the from future defrags.
Whenever I used to approach the Xtreme airports (Demo), my flight sim used to pause for quite some time while it loaded the airport, however, now, the airports will just load as I fly closer to them. The only problem I have seen with the software is the estimated time that it reckons some operations will take. I have had estimations of 68 hours, which falls to 15-20 minutes after a 250mb+ file.
I do reccomend that you give this software a trial run though.

Hi Joshua,

Regular defragging of your disk will make a lot of difference to way that the sim performs, and also loading times. Being able to make a custom defrag for your system is therefore a great advantage. I have been using Ultimate Defrag for a couple of years now, and find that it does everthing that it says on the can. As you have said, the only down point is that you must never take any notice of the times that it gives for each operation, although they do become more accurate as the defrag progresses.

Again, I found another excellent example of how this software has helped. I have a very underpowered pc tbh, and usually, when flying over Gatwick airport (at any altitude), the game stops and I have to wait for it to load before I can continue my flight. (lol). Now though, when flying over it, the game just simply stutters very quickly and then gets on with the rest of the flight. Smiley.
