Hi Staff

I have recently 'returned to the fold' and have been reinstalling all my FS9 stuff on a new (win 7 64 bit) pc (I can't get on with FSX).  I have installed EGKK Xtreme but, for some reason, the ILS does not line up with the runway centreline on 08R.  I do not recall this as the norm.  Further, if I ask to go to 08R, the sim places me off to the right of centre, exactly where the ILS is aligned and, also, a number of the parking spots are out of kilter.  I'm guessing that the Xtreme data base is not being read properly and that means that I've probably installed the scenery incorrectly.  Your advice would be appreciated.  I have Parts 1-4, EGLL Pro v2 and EGCC.  I have attached three screen prints of the problem.

Many thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

The first obvious reason could be that EGKK is in part three as well. I would inactivate all the EGkk files in part three, and also the file af2_egkk in the af2_high folder.

Hi Norman

Thanks.  That fixed it - after I'd uninstalled EGKK Extreme and reinstalled it.  Just inactivating the suggested files left me with no scenery at all for EGKK so perhaps there's an exclude file there somewhere but an uninstall then reinstall of EGKK Extreme fixed it anyway.

Because of this I did exactly the same for EGLL Pro v2 but, interestingly, in this case the default scenery was not deactivated because, after uninstalling EGLL Pro v2 then deactivating the egll files in part IV and the af2_egll.bgl file in the af2_high folder, I was left with what appeared to be the default egll scenery.

This makes me wonder if the layers I have in my scenery.cfg file are possibly not in the best order.  Is there a need to have, say, parts 1-4 under my egll, egcc and egkk stuff?  And where should the af2_high scenery be in the list relative to these other UK2000 sceneries?

Thanks for any advice.

Well, if you either make the files inactive, by re-naming them egll_xxx.bgx then that should be enough, but the general Principal is that the scenery you want to use must be above anything else that is for the same  in the scenery library. Thus you should have your Xtreme and PRO series above the parts. However, af2 files often do not follow the normal rules and any af2 file in a scenery folder that is not necessarily active, but included in a scenery folder in the Flight Simulator base folder can cause problems. This includes such things as ai systems, and global scenerys that include airport adjustments. In this case it is best to delete any such af2 files.

There is just one snag that you can come across and that is that some scenery designers hide af2 files within other bgls and this makes their detection very difficult.

OK, Norm, thanks for the heads-up.  All scenery properly ordered as advised.
