I installed the Demo version and then fired up FSX....Disaster!!!! all of my "Add on Scenery" has disappeared!!!
Checking my FSX installation folder everything is still in there but not showing anymore in the Scenery section or the sim.
Quickly uninstalled the demo but still no luck.
Any ideas what has happened??

There is a backup made of the scenery library, before Heathrow was added to it, it is placed in the product folder, but nothing is actually removed from your current file, and this method of added the scenery has been used many years. Look at folder [FSX location]\UK2000 Scenery\UK2000 Heathrow Xtreme\

Hi Gary,
There is nothing in the folder as I uninstalled the demo to see if it would resolve the problem.
I cannot believe that your demo could have caused this to happen and as it stands all my add on scenery has disappeared from the settings scenery library and so FSX itself.
Upon checking in the "Scenery.cfg file" in C:Program Data/Microsoft/FSX none of my add on scenery entries are there anymore (just a few) and it states that it was "modified" at the time of the Demo installation.
There are countless entries for "Scenery cfg before..." the most recent being by Orbx in August which clearly shoows the correct file with ALL entries.
I have tried to copy all the missing entries accross from the saved Orbx scenery cfg into the current scenery.cfg but get an error message.
Have you any ideas how to resolve this situation?

You may have to re-add them all via the FS scenery library. The file is only appended, there is no process to destroy and there would be no logic in doing this. It was probably some other problem that causes this, as no one else has ever reported it. Maybe the file got corrupted by a bad sector on the hard drive or some other write process glitch.

Copied over the saved.cfg files and overwrote and did the same with a saved FSX scenery cfg file and it is all back to normal except for about four sceneries purchased after I made those copies so entered them manually withinn FSX now everything is fine.
Just bought the full product and about to install so fingers crossed all goes well.
Thanks everyone!!

Do you have Kaspersky?

Quote from another user:

Kaspersky AV popped up with a message about suspicious activity, then proceeded to delete the Uk2000 installer taking the scenery.cfg

I think every one with Kaspersky will have to watch this, I suspect your last Auto update of Kaspersky is faulty, I was probably the reason why it removed the scenery.cfg, Kaspersky saw my setup trying to modify the scenery.cfg, then assumes it was a virus and deleted it.

Gary/James,
I too have Kaspersky and had the same problem when I updated to V2.  However, if I recall correctly, I managed to solve the problem by temporarily disabling pro-active defence ( found under the Systems and Application section) whilst I installed the scenery.
