Hi Gary,

I have max my max vertex level to 21 due to the fact some other sceneries use it, but it causes some strange issues near RWY 23... I know this is not a UK2000 issue, but can you smoothen the area around the airport somewhat?

Thanks in advance!

Erik

It is far more difficult to change FS2004 terrain compared to FSX. The normal most effective way is via large areas of DEM data, but this is beyond my ability. My terrain changes are limited to a series and stepping flat plateau only. In this case Im not sure even DEM would help as the cutting is part of the default river cutting and Im not sure it can be removed

You also seam to have another river, the narrow one is the default river, the wide river must be some sort of addon you have

Yes, I am using Ultimate Terrain Europe, so guess that might be the cause.

Erik, I think Ultimate Terrain Europe is the cause of the double river as I have both the Ultimate Terrain Europe and the double river!

Hi guys,

I have the same setup with UT Europe and the same issues. The "duplicate" river is actually part of the scenery, specifically of the file vtp_9.bgl, which includes some roads as well. See the two captures. Since Gary has access to the source file, I think it would be easy for him to simply delete the river and keep the rest and provide us few with an alternate vtp_9.bgl.

As for the other issue, floating ground image and trees and some bleedthrough, a flatten will fix it and I will work on that soon.

If you have floating photo ground on the west side of the airport with a max vertex level of 21 and perhaps mesh like that of FS Genesis, try the attached Flatten file (rename extension to bgl), simply place it in EGPF's scenery folder. Solved it for me. All we need now is an edited vtp_9.bgl.

Okay, I tried renaming the extension and it didn't work.
I managed to do it though by renaming it inside a .RAR file.
However, for users that can't do it, won't do it or don't want to do it, I've uploaded it for them.

Thanks for your work though. The file does work. The only problem I can see is the default river causing 2 "dimples" but hopefully if Gary can remove the river from the vtp_9.bgl file, this will be removed as well.

Yeah, it should. In the mean time, I've just disabled the vtp_9 file and it's nice and flat.

When you disable vtp_9.bgl, what disappears?

EDIT: Just disabled my vtp_9.bgl and the dimples are still there and nothing seems to have changed!

What disappears, is the river that's in the way of the UTE stuff and only a handful of roads here and there. Nothing major.

Can you show me a shot of the dimples, so that we're on the same page.

Okay,

I just checked again, and with vtp_9.bgl disabled, everything is okay (apart from the missing roads!).

Here are the dimples when the file is re-enabled.

Yeah, those are caused by the river and conflicting flatten/mesh. There is a setting in Ultimate Terrain to adjust the level a river sinks into the terrain by the way, but those act globally.

Well, hopefully Gary will be able to solve it. I think I can live with the dimples to be honest. Its much better than it was. Thanks for your work on this.
