ok all, The threat of piracy among programmers has been around a long time. The only way to get around piracy is if the general public support the people producing the programmes.Piracy increases costs, degrades the programmers hard work and scenery writing is hard work.Uk2000 has given product support from day one.How many products give this ammount of support!I feel everyone who buys UK2000 Products should make sure it is a genuine product this not only supports the writer but ultimatley leads to better end products in this case UK scenery.I support Gary in all he does and the appreciation of his work is to buy the genuine product.Lets be honest WHAT WOULD WE DO WITHOUT HIM fly ms renditions.NO THANKS.So lets get behind and offer the support he genuinely deserves. stu

I can't really say anything in this thread that I haven't already said in Gary's original thread about continued piracy.

Gary, I have bought a lot of scenery including all the latest FSX Airports and will continue to buy all those in the making now. The question I would like to ask is, when you introduce the email security and I.P. system, will that effect those of us who are hoping to upgrade or replace our PC's. I'm not a PC techie so wondered if the IP address is unique to each PC. Am I right in thinking the most we'll have to do is just reinstall using our email adress. I support any security measures you need and fully endorse your great scenery. Kevin Briggs

Take offs are optional. Landings are mandatory.

Gary, heres an idea, to help prevent the prolonged use of people using the demos, why not give a time restriction on your demos, say, a week, then the installer will prevent access to it and it will be coverd in a blanket and u will not be able to see any airport untill you either:
a) purchase it or b) remove it from the scenery
That way you would have the best of both worlds
regards
Gareth

Again you run in to the problem that scenery code is not a program, yes it easy to lock out the use of the setup, but when it installs they dont need to access the setup again. I can add some date detection in scenery code, its not fool proof, but it would be anoying, so yes its certainly another thing I could add.
For now I test what I have and you beta testers will be instructed to try and crack it
With regards to Kevin question, IP address are used by your ISP and assigned to broadband connection. Doesn't matter if you change the PC. Most download users are Broadband, there are not that many Dial up users (which can have changing IPs)
I will allow for some flex in this, but if the system detects one email being used 100 times a month, or the IP with that email keeps changing then it will locked out, its then up to user to email me to get it unlocked and supply a good reason for activating 100 times.

If you loose your broadband connection for any reason you end up with a new IP address. We get numerous power cuts here and each time a new IP. Norman

I am a happy purchaser and any action that you take against piracy should be taken. On a technical question, I have just completed an upgrade (that's what FSX does to you), and a reinstall of FSX. I still hold my previously purchased extreme airports on the HDD, but I next plan to buy Bristol. My question relates to the installer. I never bothered to download it, but this discussion suggests that I should. Will it become necessary to use it in order that you can protect your product?
