I have teamed up with Matt Cox to release an Xplane version of Birmingham Xtreme.

More details will follow shortly when I pass over this board to Matt. I myself do not have Xplane, so this version is made possible by Matts work. He has used the UK2000 Scenery assets+plus Xplane and home made specific assets  to make this work.

Here are some screen shots of this version.

This will be a separate paid version to the normal MS coded version. Matt has spend a lot of time and effort to make this possible, so sorry we cant give it away to existing FS9\FSX\P3D version users.

Price will be normal 16.99 and there is Xplane 10 and Xplane 11 version.

Delighted by this news - will be a really good addition to X-Plane. I have a great deal of these airports for FSX and the quality is nothing short of exceptional.
Happy Days!

Giving that most of the UK2000 scenes are situated in more or less flat areas, this won't be a huge problem, but just to make sure. Will your airports support sloped runways? I'm asking because certain developers (namely Digital Design for their LOWS) requiring these to be disabled in X-Plane.

Also, will you include static aircrafts for X-Plane versions? It looks a bit empty now.

Hi, I have not been able to add sloped runways at Birmingham yet. This is due to the elevations of the airfield being on a dramatic hill compared to the other side. However, this is something I will try and implement in the future. You should not have to turn off 'Runways Follow Terrain Contours' in your X-Plane settings for this.

I am also going to add static aircraft and other features at a later date as this is something that will have to be implemented into the 'Options' of the installer. So this is experimental for me at the moment.

Any chance of a picture that shows the runway contours? Birmingham is known for being so non-flat...

Hi Javier,

Like many 3rd party sceneries for X-Plane, we are not able to implement runway terrain contours due to the models of buildings sinking into the ground on one side of an airport compared to the other. This then creates more issues than it's worth for the scenery and can contain a lot more bugs. Sorry about this, but maybe I will have to try and work on this in the future.

Thanks,

Matt

If not free, any chance of a discount for existing FSX/FS9 customers? You always do when a new update is released.  Grin

XP is the place to be.

Hi Steven,

Here is a quote from Gary at the start of the forum, sorry we cannot help you here.

"This will be a separate paid version to the normal MS coded version. Matt has spend a lot of time and effort to make this possible, so sorry we cant give it away to existing FS9\FSX\P3D version users."

Hi Gary and the team over at UK2000!
When I heard you guys were converting your scenery to work inside xplane you provided the best news I've had in a long time! I own all your excellent products in FSX/P3D and not one of them has failed to disappoint.  I bought Birmingham for Xplane as soon as I heard and can confirm that the quality is up to the same excellent standards! I use both sims and have always been missing good high quality UK airfields to go with the excellent Ortho Graphic Photo scenery which I have created.  I eagerly await your next release and all those that come after! Keep up the excellent work guys!

From what I've seen today, the scenery looks rather nice, but unfortunately (I assume as it was done as a first attempt, and a great first attempt it is) it's missing rather a lot of features which XP users expect, like taxiroutes, (now also XP11 ground trucks, which I have done if you are interested), static aircraft (which are done easily using the V10.50 stand assignment system) and custom runway/taxiway textures. I rest assured that in future sceneries these things will be up to the usual, high standard.

As another think, I hope you're not redistributing the autogate plugin, the licence which comes with it does not allow for the plugin itself to be distributed, users are required to download it from the main site.

Hi Alex,

You'll be glad to know that all of this will be added in the next update which should be in the next couple of weeks.

For the static aircraft, that will be at a later release but all of this will be implemented Smiley
